Being a person born between 1977 and 2000 I fall into a generation group called the “Millennials”. This group is defined by being technology savvy. “A recent study found that 91 percent of Millennials are on the Web” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, p.74). Being part of that 91 percent I feel like I strongly identify with this demographic. Living in a fast pace world that has a lot to offer at your fingertips, you always have to be in the loop of information. I feel that social media is the truest way to communicate a message to someone like myself. If there is any new product that I am personally interested in I have most likely seen it on the internet either through an email or on Facebook. “77 percent of Millennials frequent social networking sites” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, p.74) Just about all of the information I get in a day comes from social networking sites mostly Facebook. “Rather than having mass marketing messages pushed at them, they prefer to seek out information and engage in two-way brand conversations” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, p.74). Being a Millennial I don’t like to feel pushed into something I would much rather go seek it out on my own and feel that I found something rather than being found by something. I walk around most of the day with an Ipod blasting in my ears or a phone at my fingers texting away trying to figure out what the next hot thing is going to be.
