Week 4EOC: There's An App for That

If I could invent one App for the smart phone it would be a Breathalyzer App. Besides the fact I think it would be hilarious to see someone download it on their phone and actually use it. It could probably end up saving lives but, I doubt it. With the number of DUI related deaths in a year you would think that a portable breathalyzer would be beneficial to society.   There are currently different App makers attempting to create this technology. One of these App makers invented a set-up for the iPod and iPhone called the iBreath.” This is the iBreath and although it can be used without an iPod or iPhone via an in car adapter, it is cleverly marketed as an iPod and iPhone accessory that is an alcohol breath test.”( http://www.product-reviews.net/2008/12/22/ibreath-for-iphone-and-ipod-breathalyzer-application/). Who would believe the read out on a breathalyzer if it was on an iPod or iPhone? Most Apps claiming to be a breathalyzer are just drink calculators that attempt to give you an assumption to what your blood alcohol concentration to be. “DrinkTracker automatically compares your alcohol intake and your metabolic removal rate and updates your current Blood Alcohol Content every 60 seconds.”( http://www.slappme.com/). Apps like drink tracker fall short because who actually knows what their metabolic rate is, which means that the App is most likely picking this parameter at random. Creating Apps is on its way to becoming a billion dollar business. Apple is currently the front runner in the app creation business,” making over 700 million from App revenue in 2009.”(http://www.blackberrycool.com/2011/02/28/blackberry-app-world-generates-highest-revenue-per-app/). As long as consumers continue to buy Apps in the market will continue to thrive. There is never any telling on what the next big App in the App store will be but everyone is always waiting and willing to pay for it.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

Being a person born between 1977 and 2000 I fall into a generation group called the “Millennials”. This group is defined by being technology savvy. “A recent study found that 91 percent of Millennials are on the Web” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, p.74).  Being part of that 91 percent I feel like I strongly identify with this demographic. Living in a fast pace world that has a lot to offer at your fingertips, you always have to be in the loop of information. I feel that social media is the truest way to communicate a message to someone like myself. If there is any new product that I am personally interested in I have most likely seen it on the internet either through an email or on Facebook.  “77 percent of Millennials frequent social networking sites” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, p.74) Just about all of the information I get in a day comes from social networking sites mostly Facebook. “Rather than having mass marketing messages pushed at them, they prefer to seek out information and engage in two-way brand conversations” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, p.74).  Being a Millennial I don’t like to feel pushed into something I would much rather go seek it out on my own and feel that I found something rather than being found by something. I walk around most of the day with an Ipod blasting in my ears or a phone at my fingers texting away trying to figure out what the next hot thing is going to be.

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

The best customer service I have ever encountered was at Nike Town at the Forum Shops. Besides being knowledgeable about their products the way they helped you was first rate. Upon entering the store I was greeted with the utmost hospitality. I took my time looking around the store to see what I might like and wasn't harassed by sales clerks asking me every ten steps if I was finding everything alright. By the time i was ready to make my final decision one of the sales assistants walked up and asked me for my size. When the assistant came back he came back with 2 pairs of the same shoe, on was the size i had asked for and the other was one half size larger. The size I asked for ended up being too small and the second size he brought out was perfect. I proceeded to inquire about other products they sold and this associate had every answer I was looking for. Ever since this event I have always compared others in customer service to this gentleman. His knowledge and attentiveness made me feel good about spending my money in the store.

Week 1 EOC: About Me

Hi, my name is Brandon McCoy from Las Vegas, Nevada I've lived here my whole life and Audio Engineering is my passion. From a young age I was introduced to music by singing in choirs and playing musical instruments. Over the years I have spent many hours in a studio setting recording and mixing music. Music is a vital part of life it allows a listener to escape everyday reality or jump start a good night/day. My aim is to produce the best quality audio for my customer as well as get the best possible performance from any talent. I live by the motto "Defeat is not an option" so I constantly strive for perfection. I enjoy spending my time trying to get the mix just right and I think this dedication will put me first on a person's list of engineers when they need a project done. Growing up in a city that is full of entertainment I have always been seeking a way to get into the industry. The bright lights of the city along with all the sounds have been a soundtrack to my life and I want to help others perfect their own soundtrack. With the amount of ambition and skill I possess, I have no doubt I can make a person’s audio dreams come true.
